Euro Pro Shark makes a small cordless handheld vacuum called the SV736. Its 15.6-volt design is a miniature powerhouse that Shark claims is the strongest suction available. Perhaps they’re boasting? Examining the advantages and disadvantages of the SV736, and comparing it to competing models, shows that Euro Pro really can claim that theirs is the best option.

The Euro Pro Shark SV736 handheld vacuum is small and lightweight, with outstanding suction power. Its Twister Cyclonic Technology was developed by Euro Pro to provide powerful suction no matter how full the dust cup becomes.

The SV736 comes with a bonus crevice tool. It also includes a motorized brush that is superior for removing pet hair and loosening other debris from carpet fibers. These handy extras serve to enhance the already sturdy build and light balance of the Shark model.

Like with most rechargable appliances, the Shark SV736 needs a long initial charging period, in this case a minimum of 20 hours. This is a minor inconvenience at first, since you will be unable to use it immediately after purchase. However, after charging, it is highly reliable and is able to hold a strong charge for a solid half hour.

A long term expense of this handheld is its filters, which need replacement approximately every 3 months. You’ll have to clean this filter regularly, too, because the dust cup is so small and it needs frequent emptying.

A mounting bracket is included, to store the SV736 on the wall. It is not necessary to mount your handheld on the wall, but it is convenient. And if you do, remember that it must be located near a 120-v outlet, so that it can charge while stored. You’ll have to provide your own small basic tools (drill and screwdriver) required for this quick and easy installation.

It was difficult to get used to the inverted arrangement of the Shark’s wall mount bracket. Usually, wall mounted handhelds are oriented with the nozzle pointing down. The SV736’s arrangement is just the opposite – its nozzle points up when it is mounted on the wall bracket. This took some getting used to, and proved to be somewhat awkward for removing and replacing the vaccum in the charger.

To sum up, the advantages of the Euro Pro Shark SV736 cordless handheld vacuum outweigh its disadvantages. It does have the problem of a twitchy wall bracket. However, this minor problem does not take away from its outstanding performance, desing quality, and clever attachments. The Shark SV736 is superior to any other cordless handheld, and I give it the highest recommendation.
